What data we process and why

Visiting the website and server logs

When you access this website, the hosting provider processes technically necessary data (e.g. IP address, date and time of the request, file requested, amount of data transferred, browser type). This is required to deliver the site, maintain stability and security (e.g. defence against attacks) and is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interests).

Further details (retention, subprocessors) depend on your hosting provider if the site is operated there.

Contact form

If you use the contact form, we process the data you enter (e.g. name, email address, phone if provided, subject, message). It is transmitted to our technical endpoint at api.zeugwerk.dev, where it is stored in a database so your enquiry can be handled, traced if needed, and protected against abuse (e.g. rate limiting). We may also store technical connection data sent by your browser with the request, such as IP address and user agent, for the same security and abuse-prevention purposes.

We send notification and acknowledgement messages via email from our server environment (standard internet email). Your email provider and any intermediaries involved in delivery process data under their own terms.

Legal bases: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (pre-contractual steps / contract initiation) and, where applicable, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (handling enquiries, abuse prevention, secure operation of the contact channel).

We delete the data when it is no longer needed for the purpose of the enquiry, unless statutory retention obligations apply.

Spam protection on the contact form (hCaptcha)

To protect the contact form against automated submissions (bots), we use hCaptcha, a service provided by Intuition Machines, Inc., 350 Alabama St., San Francisco, CA 94110, USA. When the contact page is loaded, hCaptcha may collect information needed to assess whether the request is human, including your IP address, technical browser data, mouse and keyboard interactions on the widget, and a hCaptcha cookie. This data is sent to hCaptcha servers and processed there.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in protecting our infrastructure against abuse) and, where the widget sets non-essential cookies, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent given by submitting the form).

Transfers to the USA take place on the basis of the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and/or Standard Contractual Clauses. Further information: hCaptcha Privacy Policy and hCaptcha Terms of Service.

Map (OpenStreetMap) on the contact page

The contact page may display an embedded map from OpenStreetMap. Loading the map may transfer data (e.g. IP address) to servers operated by the OpenStreetMap Foundation (or tile providers used). See the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (showing our location and directions).

Language preference (local storage)

When you switch language via the site switcher, a value may be stored in your browser’s localStorage (zw_lang) so your preference is remembered on later visits. This is not a classic cookie; you can clear it at any time in your browser settings.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (convenient use of the website).

No profiling, no sale of data

We do not build advertising profiles from your use of this site and we do not sell personal data.

Recipients / processors

Where we use providers for hosting, email delivery, or similar purposes, we do so only under appropriate agreements, including data processing agreements under Art. 28 GDPR where required. Contact form data is processed on systems we operate (including the service at api.zeugwerk.dev and mail dispatch).

Transfers outside the EU/EEA

Through this website, data may only be transferred outside the EU/EEA where technically necessary to load embedded content (e.g. maps). Please refer to the respective provider’s information.

Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and to object to processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Austria this is the Data Protection Authority.

Obligation to provide data

You are not obliged to provide personal data to use the website. Without the information required in the contact form, we may not be able to process your enquiry.

Changes

We may update this privacy policy when the website or legal requirements change. The version published on this page applies.
